D’Angelo Russell
D’Angelo Russell is another option who could fill in the Suns’ need for ballhandlers and scorers.
Russell had a strong season in Minnesota, helping lead the team to the postseason for the first time since he arrived. Russell played a vital role on a team where he wasn’t the primary scorer but still chipped in over 18 points per game.
Russell’s seven assists per game led the way for Minnesota, as he managed to mix in his scoring and passing in a lead-ballhandler role. The Suns could greatly benefit from a player like Russell entering the fold.
As previously mentioned, the Suns lacked answers at point guard when CP3 was not in. Though Cameron Payne fit the bill last season, he simply wasn’t up to repeating his performance this postseason. Staggering minutes with CP3, Russell, and Paul could form the league’s most sound point guard rotation.

Russell also provides creative on-ball scoring that the Suns lack. Though they can seemingly generate good looks at will as a team, the Suns don’t have a go-to guy. Russell has proven to be that at times in his career and could do so in Phoenix.
A trade package of Cameron Payne, Dario Saric, Jae Crowder, and Torrey Craig would do the trick salary-wise. With added draft capital, it’s possible a workable deal could be found.
