Brandon Ingram
Frankly, if the New Orleans Pelicans had any interest in swapping Brandon Ingram for James Harden, the Philadelphia 76ers would almost have to say yes.
Ingram is a burgeoning superstar. The 24-year-old averaged a well-rounded 22.7 points, 5.8 rebounds, and 5.6 assists per game in 2021-22. He’s still got room to grow, but even if he doesn’t, he’s emerged as a high-level role player in this league.
In all likelihood, the Pelicans’ willingness to play ball here would be dependent on the relationship between Ingram and Zion Williamson. If they’re close, this is probably a non-starter. On the other hand, if they’re not, flipping Ingram for Harden could be seen as an overture in Williamson’s direction.
After all, trading Ingram for a 32-year-old would certainly signify a focus on the present. If Harden can put his pesky hamstring issues aside, he’ll be a more impactful player than Ingram in 2022-23.
