
At this point, we know what the Detroit Pistons are. They continue to be a rebuilding team that adds future stars in the NBA Draft. As for the Brooklyn Nets, we know what they should be, but they haven’t reached that level just yet.
It was a roller-coaster season for the Nets, beginning with the COVID-19 mandates in New York. This forced Kyrie Irving to sit out home games. Brooklyn decided to have Irving come back late in the season on the road before the state lifted the mandates. This did not save the Nets come postseason time, as they were swept out of the first round by the Boston Celtics.
A team with Irving and Kevin Durant is supposed to be competing for championships. Brooklyn made a blockbuster deal to acquire Ben Simmons when James Harden was sent to Philadelphia in the middle of the season. Simmons did not play a game for the Nets yet for various reasons.
If so, there will be some interested teams, but they will have to have a plan for a player like Simmons. The Pistons could lineup in a deal because of what they would be able to offer.

Detroit is building around Cade Cunningham and Saddiq Bey moving forward. Some veteran pieces in Detroit could be used in trades to acquire assets.
