Chicago Bulls Receive: F John Collins, G Kevin Huerter
Atlanta Hawks Receive: G Zach LaVine
If the Chicago Bulls aren’t sure whether they’re looking to rebuild or just retool in LaVine’s absence, this would be the deal for them.
After all, they’re landing two quality NBA players here. They’re also both on the right side of 25. If DeMar DeRozan can maintain his 2021-22 production next year, and Vucevic can step his up, this deal could keep them competitive.
On the other hand, if DeRozan regresses and Vooch stagnates, they could be landing two building blocks for a rebuild here.
Arguably, that’s the more likely route for the Bulls if LaVine is heading elsewhere. DeRozan and Vucevic are both aging, and even in their primes they probably wouldn’t have made up the backbone of a serious title contender. This team could easily decide that their contending window doesn’t exist without LaVine.
