Where Will Donovan Mitchell Land?
The Utah Jazz suffered another in a long string of consecutive postseason disappointments. This time, Utah was dismissed from the playoffs in its opening round by the Dallas Mavericks.
NBA trade rumors about a strained relationship between Rudy Gobert and Donovan Mitchell have existed for a long time. They seemed to spike this postseason though. It may finally be time that the Jazz move on from one or both of them.
Though I think any grievance between Rudy Gobert and Donovan Mitchell is overblown, I also think the Jazz will move Mitchell this offseason. Off-court issues aside, it’s clear that the Mitchell and Gobert partnership will not bring Utah a championship. With both Mitchell and Gobert on long-term contracts, Utah can reap high value in a trade for either star.
Though stars are frequently rumored to be heading to the Knicks and rarely end up going, Donovan Mitchell could end up in New York this offseason.

The Knicks are desperate for a star, particularly a guard who can put up gaudy scoring numbers. It’s not often that a star of Mitchell’s caliber becomes available. I would expect them to force the issue with Utah if his availability is even hinted at.
Not only is Mitchell a star-caliber guard, he’s also from the New York area – born in nearby Elmsford and an alumni of the New York AAU outfit Riverside Hawks. Mitchell would likely invite a return home, which makes a move to the Knicks a real possibility for him.
