San Antonio Spurs

With the history of guards in San Antonio and the head coach they have in place, is there a better landing spot for a young guard?

Johnny Davis seems like the prototypical guard out of San Antonio that can fly under the radar during a long and successful career. Also, the Spurs have Dejounte Murray running the show, who is not a bad player for Davis to learn from.

Murray is a triple-double waiting to happen during his time on the floor. Keldon Johnson is another blossoming star in the backcourt for the Spurs. The IQ of Davis on the floor will translate well to the NBA but especially with the Spurs. Gregg Popovich would enjoy implementing a mind like Davis.

This is especially important with an inconsistent three-point game. Davis shot the three-ball well as a freshman but dipped near 30% during his sophomore year. When this part of his game is not there, Davis is comfortable getting into the lane and scoring around the rim, not to mention getting his teammates involved.

Davis can defend and rebound well from the guard position. This is all Popovich could ask for from a rookie point guard.
