Washington Wizards Receive: G Cory Joseph, C Tony Bradley, 2023 First-Round Pick (POR)
Detroit Pistons Receive: G Coby White
Chicago Bulls Receive: F Kyle Kuzma
Anticipating how the Washington Wizards might function this summer is difficult. Many expect them to move on from star shooting guard Bradley Beal, but just as many assume they’ll be holding onto him.
This deal allows them to walk a line. Joseph stabilizes the point guard position in a much-needed way. Furthermore, moving on from Kuzma opens up space in their currently crowded wing rotation. Rui Hachimura and Deni Avdija have both shown great promise. This trade allows the Wizards more room to explore it.
Of course, they’re getting a first-round pick as well. That’s the price Chicago pays to acquire Kuzma. Along with, of course, Coby White.
White may not be the first player observers expect the Pistons to target. After all, they’re built around an exceptional point guard in soon-to-be-sophomore Cade Cunningham. That’s no concern.

Both Cunningham and White have the size to play off-guard (or, in Cunningham’s case, small forward). In a positionless league, grabbing the younger White makes sense for the Pistons no matter who they’ve currently got on the roster.
