Ben Simmons
Take everything we just said about a Bradley Beal and Dejounte Murray pairing. Now, quadruple it.
It now applies to Ben Simmons. He’s a notoriously apprehensive three-point shooter. Outside of an end-of-clock heave, he’s not going to shoot one at all.
He’s also one of the best passers in the NBA. Arguably, he’s the league’s best perimeter defender. All the skills that Murray possesses to offset Beal’s weaknesses, Simmons has in spades.
That’s not to say he’s a better option than Murray. His absolute unwillingness to shoot triples can pose issues for his team’s offensive flow. Still, the Wizards could be in a great position to accommodate it. They’ve got two stretch big men in Kristaps Porzingis and Thomas Bryant. If they could land Simmons without giving up either, they could quickly become dangerous.
