The New York Knicks are a team that a lot of people are going to have their eyes on this offseason. They disappointed during the 2021-22 NBA campaign, so they are going to be looking to upgrade their roster in any way possible this summer.

Depending on how free agency shakes out for Mitchell Robinson, the Knicks could need a new starting center. Are they ready to hand that job to Jericho Sims, who was excellent down the stretch of the season and eventually took the role of Nerlens Noel, who remains on the roster as well?

By far the biggest issue the New York Knicks are facing this offseason is finding a point guard. The Kemba Walker and Derrick Rose duo did not work out last season. Walker was removed from the rotation twice as he wore down and his effectiveness waned. Rose played in only 26 games, leaving Alec Burks as the starting point guard for a majority of the time.

That is something that cannot be done again. Whether it is via a free agent signing or trade, New York needs to find a starting point guard. If they go the trade route, one player that could pique their interest is Monte Morris of the Denver Nuggets.

Morris showed this season that he is capable of running the show as the starting point guard. He was entrusted with the role as Jamal Murray was recovering from his ACL injury and missed the entire season.

There may actually be another level that he can take his playmaking to, as the offense in Denver is run through Nikola Jokic and Monte Morris played more of a complementary playmaking role. He averaged a career-high 4.4 assists, turning the ball over only one time per game.

Not only that, Morris will make defenses pay if they help off of him. He is an efficient scorer, knocking down 39.4 percent of his 3-point attempts in his career. That would play well alongside RJ Barrett and Julius Randle, should both remain on the team, as someone that will space the floor and keep the middle open for downhill attacks of the rim.

Turning 27-years old in a few weeks, Morris would be a solid target for New York. He is young enough to man the position for years to come but brings some experience to the table as well with 48 playoff games under his belt.

With Murray returning next season and Bones Hyland taking on a bigger role as his rookie season wore on, Morris could very well become available this offseason. The price tag is what should draw the Knicks to Morris the most should the Denver Nuggets look to trade him.

While not a big, marquee name, Monte Morris would provide New York with a steady producer at the point guard spot, something they have lacked for years. Signed through 2024, the New York Knicks would finally have some stability at the most important position on the court.
