The Jazz appear to be on the tail end of a prolonged run of success. They’ve been a playoff fixture for the better part of a decade, but they seem to have hit a ceiling on their success.
Meanwhile, the Kings haven’t made the playoffs in 16 years. That’s an NBA record. Having flipped Tyrese Haliburton for Domanas Sabonis at last year’s trade deadline, they look primed to end that unfortunate streak at all costs.

It makes too much sense for both sides. The Sacramento Kings would pair Mitchell with De’Aaron Fox to form one of the best backcourts in the NBA. The Utah Jazz would begin their likely needed rebuild.
