Houston Rockets Receive: G Eric Bledsoe, F Nassir Little, G Keon Johnson
Portland Trail Blazers Receive: C Christian Wood, F David Nwaba
At first glance, this trade may seem worse for the Houston Rockets than the first one. If they see something in Keon Johnson, they may feel differently.
Granted, he’s a little redundant with this roster. After all, the Rockets are currently built around a similarly long, athletic, scoring-minded guard.
Johnson wouldn’t be coming to Space City to compete with Jalen Green. Instead, he’d be vying for fellow soon-to-be sophomore Josh Christopher’s minutes. If the Rockets can develop either into a sixth man type, that would be a win for this organization. Either way, their front office shouldn’t fret over fit: they’re in talent acquisition mode.
The Portland Trail Blazers’ title window may be rapidly closing as built around Damian Lillard. It’s still open. Look for this organization to leave no stone unturned in its efforts to upgrade its roster heading into the 2022-23 season.
