Houston Rockets Receive: G Eric Bledsoe, F Nassir Little, 2025 First-Round Pick (MIL)
Portland Trail Blazers Receive: C Christian Wood, F David Nwaba
To some readers, this deal will boil down to Nassir Little and a first-round pick for Christian Wood. Don’t be so sure.
On the Portland Trail Blazers’ end, they could use David Nwaba. Granted, he’s a 3-and-D wing whose three-point accuracy is shaky at best. Nonetheless, he is a dogged defender.
Given that the Trail Blazers finished 2021-22 with the worst Defensive Rating in the NBA, they’ll welcome his addition.
Meanwhile, the Houston Rockets’ situation at point guard is…interesting. As currently constructed, they’re undergoing the process of trying to convert Kevin Porter Jr. into a floor general. The results have been mixed. He still has the potential to learn the position, but adding a veteran mentor in Bledsoe could have its benefit.

Still, the meat of this trade centers around Wood, Little, and the first-round pick. At 22, Little is a perfect acquisition for the rebuilding Rockets. He could be a part of their rebuild as a consummate 3-and-D wing. On the other hand, the first-round pick exchanging hands here is probably even more important to them.
Unless, of course, it isn’t. The Houston Rockets already have plenty of draft capital. They may be more focused on acquiring young players. If that’s the case, the Blazers could offer them a different deal.
