Indiana Pacers Receive: G/F Dillon Brooks, F De’Anthony Melton
Memphis Grizzlies Receive: C Myles Turner
With this trade, the Indiana Pacers achieve better floor balance. With an excess of big men, they acquire a much-needed 3-and-D wing in Dillon Brooks.
Granted, Brooks isn’t the most consistent player from distance. He’s a career 34.8% shooter and shot an ugly 30.9% in 2021-22. On the other hand, his defensive effort never waivers.
He’s also a better self-creator than he’s often given credit for. Brooks can hit tough shots. More importantly, he’s fearless. If he can regain his form from deep and get closer to his career average, he’ll be exactly what the Pacers need to improve next season.
Melton is no throw-in, either. In 2021-22, he averaged 10.8 points per game while shooting 37.4% from downtown. He’ll give the Pacers an archetypical sixth man to carry the offense when the starters sit.

In fact, parting with him, along with Brooks, will sting for the Memphis Grizzlies. Still, the opportunity to pair Myles Turner and Jaren Jackson Jr. in the frontcourt should make the cost well-worth it.
