Indiana Pacers Receive: C Steven Adams, 2022 First-Round Pick (UTA), 2024 First-Round Pick (GSW)
Memphis Grizzlies Receive: C Myles Turner
This trade will appeal to the Indiana Pacers if they’ve adopted the mindset of a rebuilding club.
It’s hard to say whether that’s where this club is. They’ve got a well-known aversion to rebuilding. At the same time, they got a lot younger at this year’s deadline by acquiring Tyrese Haliburton in exchange for Domantas Sabonis.
If they’re future-focused, this is a good return for Turner. They’re receiving two first-round picks in exchange for Turner. Granted, the Jazz pick won’t be in the lottery, and the Warriors pick likely won’t be either. That’s fine.
The 2022 NBA Draft will have valuable role players in the first pick’s range. Meanwhile, any 2024 pick is a gamble. We don’t know what might happen to the Warriors between now and then.

On the other hand, maybe the Pacers don’t want to rebuild. They already have talent on their roster. They may be more interested in retooling. If that’s the case, they’ve still got an incentive to trade Turner with Isaiah Jackson and Jalen Smith (presumably) on the roster.
In other words, there may be another way for the Memphis Grizzlies to land him.
