Indiana Pacers Receive: F Tobias Harris, 2024 First-Round Pick (PHI)
Philadelphia 76ers Receive: G Buddy Hield

This deal has two advantages for the Philadelphia 76ers. They get an elite floor-spacer, and they get off of Tobias Harris’ massive contract. Buddy Hield makes about $16 million per season less than Harris, and the Indiana Pacers are one of the only teams in a position to absorb his contract.

For those reasons, they’ll have to give up a first-round pick in the process. Daryl Morey probably won’t be opposed to that. He’s got a long history of moving first-round picks to acquire win-now players.

Hield definitely qualifies. He’s a career 39.7% three-point shooter. He’s not afraid to launch any shot from any place in the league. It can’t be overstated how much that kind of floor-spacing will maximize both Embiid and Harden’s immense talents.

As for the Pacers, they’re in this for the pick. In this deal, they’re willing to take on Harris’ big money for two more seasons for the sake of acquiring it. They’d be operating like a rebuilding team here.
