2 Contenders Who Should Consider A Trade For Pacers’ Buddy Hield

The Indiana Pacers are one team that could be active this NBA offseason on the trade market. They were among the most active ahead of the trade deadline, when they moved Domantas Sabonis, Caris LeVert and Torrey Craig. There are still some more veterans that could be on the move in a few weeks as well.

Malcolm Brogdon, Myles Turner and Buddy Hield are three more veterans that could be traded this offseason. Hield was acquired in the Sabonis trade from the Sacramento Kings, joining the Pacers along with Tyrese Haliburton and Tristan Thompson.

A move is likely for Indiana as they have a logjam in the backcourt and on the wing. Hield is a player some analysts believed the Pacers would try and flip a second time ahead of the deadline, but he remained with them through the end of the 2021-22 season.

The sharpshooter struggled with his 3-point shot, by his standards, this season, making a career-low 36.6 percent of his attempts. That is still above league average, so some teams would certainly be interested in acquiring him if he were to be made available.

Hield is a 39.8 percent shooter in his career from distance and it comes on high volume. He makes three 3-pointers per game in his career on 7.8 attempts, as he can single-handedly change a team’s game plan when it comes to shooting the ball.

Another positive thing about acquiring Hield is his de-escalating contract. His annual salary drops throughout his contract, making him an even more appealing trade target as fitting him into a salary cap is even easier.

Let’s look at two contenders that should consider making an offseason trade for Buddy Hield.
