After a tightly-contested NBA MVP race, sources are reporting that Denver Nuggets superstar Nikola Jokic has won the award. An ESPN report on Monday morning confirmed the award winner.
Nikola Jokic put up otherworldly statistics for the second straight season. Jokic posted 27.1 points, 7.9 assists, and 13.8 rebounds per game for the 48-34 Nuggets. Denver, unfortunately, saw an early exit from the postseason largely due to injuries to supporting stars.
The 2022 MVP race was one of the closer races in recent memory. The conversation fluctuated between different favorites, and by the end, it was a three-man race.
The three contenders were Jokic, the 76ers’ Joel Embiid, and the Bucks’ Giannis Antetokounmpo. The NBA has yet to reveal how close the voting was. Those three candidates, though, likely split the lions’ share of the votes.
