1. Chicago Bulls
The Milwaukee Bucks deeply exposed the Chicago Bulls’ lack of an interior presence on both ends of the court in their gentleman’s sweep of the shorthanded Windy City squad.
Chicago made some major strides last offseason when they acquired DeMar DeRozan, Alex Caruso, and Lonzo Ball which ultimately led them to a return to the playoffs for the first time since Jimmy Butler’s departure. After appearing like one of the best teams in the league to begin the 2021-2022 NBA season, the Bulls quickly fell back down to Earth after the injury bug and COVID made their way through the roster.
Even with their team at full strength, though, Chicago clearly needs some more reliable play from their backline. Their midseason addition of Tristan Thompson turned out to be a disastrous fit but perhaps the Chicago Bulls just acquired the wrong former Kings center.
If the Bulls were able to swing a trade for Richaun Holmes, they’d be adding a reliable shot-blocker and rebounder to balance out Nikola Vucevic’s weaknesses on defense. They’d also be getting a lob threat and a big body willing to battle in the paint to create second-chance opportunities.

Nabbing Holmes would make the Chicago Bulls deeper, more athletic, and better-equipped on defense; and it’s a natural next step in their progression as a franchise.
