Gobert reportedly gave the team an ultimatum, essentially saying it is either me or Donovan Mitchell. Gobert no longer believes that those two can win a championship together and wants to see a change made.
If Gobert is the player that the organization opts to move on from, there will be a lot of teams interested in him. The Charlotte Hornets would make a lot of sense as they need help in the middle. The Dallas Mavericks have also been mentioned as a potential landing spot.
One team that may not come to people’s minds first as a landing spot for Rudy Gobert but could make some sense is the Houston Rockets. Houston is in the early stages of their rebuild, but if they are confident with the young players they have continuing to develop and want to start being more competitive, they have the assets to swing a trade for Gobert.

The Rockets have young players and a ton of draft capital courtesy of the James Harden trade to the Brooklyn Nets. Christian Wood is someone that could be included in a potential deal for Rudy Gobert as well to help match salary. Eric Gordon is another player that the Utah Jazz could have some interest in.
Eventually, Houston has to start adding pieces to the roster that will help them win some games. A good argument could be made that it is still too early to look to make a trade of this magnitude, but Gobert would be a strong fit.

As one of the best defenders in the league, as a three-time Defensive Player of the Year award winner, Gobert would instantly help turn that around.
Rudy Gobert would also help balance out the team’s roster, putting players into better positions to succeed. It would be stunning to see the Rockets make a blockbuster deal of this magnitude, but there are a lot of pros to acquiring a player of Gobert’s caliber.
