Obi Toppin alone will not fetch the New York Knicks Jerami Grant. He’s likely to be one of the most sought-after trade targets in the league this summer. Somebody will offer the Pistons more than Toppin on his own.

Still, the 24-year-old forward should entice the rebuilding Pistons. Toppin and a first-round pick (or two) should get the Knicks in the conversation. If they’re looking to win next season, Grant should be worth that cost.

True, he plays the same position as Julius Randle. Color us unconcerned. Jerami Grant can easily shift to the 3, or Randle can spell the 5 for stretches in small-ball looks. Versatility is key in the modern NBA, and Grant affords it to the Knicks.
