Utah Jazz Receive: C Derrick Favors, 2023 First-Round Pick (LAC), 2024 First-Round Pick (HOU), 2025 First-Round Pick (MIA), 2026 First-Round Pick (HOU)
Oklahoma City Thunder Receive: G Donovan Mitchell

The Utah Jazz and Derrick Favors just cannot seem to avoid each other.

This deal sends the veteran big man to Salt Lake City for his third tour of duty. That’s incidental. The Oklahoma City Thunder are so far below the cap that Favors’ deal is all they need to match Mitchell’s salary.

Meanwhile, a look at the Thunders’ draft capital moving forward is almost comical. They can afford to part with these four first-round picks without flinching. They’ll still have the most picks in the NBA following this deal, and it won’t be close.

Of course, that’ll factor into negotiations. The Jazz may insist on five picks. The Thunder should consider that. Alternatively, Utah may ask for more premium selections. The Thunder have so many future picks that they may not consider that an issue either.

If anything, the Jazz may want a surer thing to come along with draft capital. If they want a player who’s proven his ability to produce at the NBA level, the Thunder can help there too.
