San Antonio Spurs
Unlike the Atlanta Hawks, the San Antonio Spurs wouldn’t have to worry about fielding two weak defenders in their backcourt if they acquired Donovan Mitchell. Dejounte Murray is an elite point preventing guard.
His ability to guard another team’s best guard would afford Mitchell leeway on the defensive end he’s never quite had. His teammate Mike Conley is fundamentally sound on that end, but his own lack of size keeps him out of the ranks of the league’s elite.
At 6’4 with an impressive wingspan, Murray doesn’t have that issue. If the San Antonio Spurs made a move to acquire Mitchell, they’d have one of the most well-rounded backcourts in the NBA.
It’s hard to know what they’d give up to get Spida. The Spurs have a number of intriguing young players, but none are surefire stars besides Murray. It’s unlikely they’d part with him. They may need to enlist a third team to put a deal together that piques the Utah Jazz’s interest.

The Jazz would probably prefer to hang onto their young star. Most teams would. Still, if Donovan Mitchell forces their hand, they may make him available. Look out for the Atlanta Hawks and the San Antonio Spurs to make a move for him in that event.
