Making the Case: San Antonio Spurs
Keldon Johnson scored 17.0 points per game this season. He played in 75 games and has been more durable over the previous two years of his career. He’s shown to be the real deal, and at 22-years-old, he will be a long-term piece.
The Spurs certainly don’t need to part with Dejounte Murray by any stretch. He’s still young and the team will have the No. 9 odds for the top overall pick in the 2022 NBA Draft — affording them another means to add a helpful player.
However, sometimes there are opportunities to make a trade where the value makes sense to capitalize on. Landing Collin Sexton in a sign-and-trade along with Isaac Okoro and some intriguing draft assets could be a worthwhile offer.
Sexton could help lead the offense with his scoring ability and is a few years younger than Murray. At 21-years-old, Okoro is a prized young player who the Cavaliers feel can take significant steps in the coming years. Sometimes it takes a few years for a player to find themself.
