Brooklyn Nets Receive: F/C Anthony Davis
Los Angeles Lakers Receive: G Kyrie Irving
This blockbuster finds the Brooklyn Nets and Los Angeles Lakers swapping liabilities.
By all accounts, Anthony Davis would prefer to get on the floor. His willingness to play has not come into question. His ability to get on the floor, unfortunately, has. He’s plagued by the same sorts of injuries that often trouble big men. After two unproductive seasons, his future is murky.
By contrast, Irving’s body seems right. His focus seems to often drift away from basketball. We don’t wish to play the armchair psychologist here. Let’s just say that, for a variety of reasons, Irving isn’t always available.
Sometimes, the simplest solution is to try something new. If Davis can get healthy, he’ll be the best big man Durant has ever played alongside. If he can regain his touch from downtown, he could also be a tidy fit alongside Ben Simmons. The Nets instantly get bigger and more defensively intimidating.
