Making the Case: Atlanta Hawks
This was the final season of Kevin Huerter’s rookie deal with the Atlanta Hawks. Now that his extension is set to begin, could the Hawks think about making a deal?
This is the financial side of things. Huerter is beginning a four-year, $65 million deal that will keep him in town until 2026. Horton-Tucker has two years left where he will make upwards of $21 million. This gives the Hawks plenty of room to add some more talent with Collins and Young.
When looking at the fit on the floor, Horton-Tucker has a chance to take on some more minutes. During his time in Los Angeles, he has played 22 minutes per contest.
He has not been able to find consistency on the offensive end, especially from deep. He can get to the basket using his size and strength but needs to improve from deep.

The Hawks clearly need to find a co-star for Trae Young going forward and it would help them to move Huerter’s contract to help to get it done.
