Why The Washington Wizards Make The Trade
This deal gets the Washington Wizards’ rebuilding process off on the right foot.
The Pacers’ 2022 pick is lottery-bound. Depending on where it lands, it might even be too sweet of a chip for the team to push in. If they do, the Wizards are exploiting their desire to get competitive quickly as a small market organization.
The draft capital is the biggest draw for the Wizards here. They’re getting a 2024 pick in addition to this year’s selection. They may not have much use for either of the veterans they’re acquiring here.
At the same time, they might. At 26, Turner fits the timeline of a rebuild. He just doesn’t fit with current Wizard Kristaps Porzingis. That’s a minor concern at the most. Something tells us the Wizards will be able to move one of the two floor-spacing rim protectors.

The same goes for Malcolm Brogdon. He’s involved here to make the money work. The Wizards can probably flip him to a contender and accumulate even more rebuilding assets.
