Utah Jazz Receive: C Christian Wood, G Eric Gordon, 2022 First-Round Pick (HOU), 2023 First-Round Pick (MIL), 2024 First-Round Pick (BKN), 2026 First-Round Pick (BKN)
Houston Rockets Receive: G Donovan Mitchell
It wasn’t long ago that the Houston Rockets found themselves trading a star guard in exchange for a boatload of draft capital and little else. This deal finds them flipping that same script.
Meanwhile, it finds the Utah Jazz on the opposite end. The draft capital they’re receiving here should be plenty if they’re forced to deal Donovan Mitchell. The Rockets’ own 2022 pick alone is guaranteed to convey in the top five.
The rest of the picks they’re receiving make for a mystery box. They’re still valuable assets. If you haven’t noticed, Brooklyn is looking pretty volatile. Any one of those picks has the potential to land in the lottery.
That’s enticing for a rebuilding squad. If the Jazz are dealing Mitchell, that’s what they’ll be. None of this happens if he doesn’t submit a trade request following a 2021-22 postseason meltdown.

Even still, the Jazz may want proven assets. While any of those Brooklyn picks could land in the top five, it’s fair to say that any could land on the opposite end of the spectrum as well. If the Jazz want a young player with star potential, the Rockets still have a package to offer.
