Utah Jazz Receive: G Derrick Rose, F Evan Fournier, F Cam Reddish, 2023 First-Round Pick (NYK), 2023 First-Round Pick (DAL)
New York Knicks Receive: C Rudy Gobert
This deal assumes that the Utah Jazz have accepted their fate as a rebuilding squad. We can take for granted that they’ve chosen to deal Donovan Mitchell in a different deal here. This deal gives them a head start on the rebuilding process.
Suddenly, the 2023 draft stands to define this team’s future. They’ll have their own selection in addition to the two they’re acquiring here. In a potentially historic class, the Jazz could acquire their new young core in a single swoop next summer.
They could even start on that process this summer if they believe in Cam Reddish. It seems that some NBA observers do, and some don’t. Advanced metrics consistently paint Reddish as a below-average defender, an expected strength of his coming out of college.
Still, at 22, Reddish still has ample tie to leverage his physical tools into on-court impact. The Jazz get a flier on him here, but landing two draft picks in such an elite class is the major draw.

On the other hand, it may not be. The Jazz, like many small-market clubs, are typically apprehensive about long-term rebuilds. If they’d rather keep Mitchell and stay competitive, there may be another swap that suits both of these teams.
