Los Angeles Lakers Receive: F Andrew Wiggins, F Jonathan Kuminga
Golden State Warriors Receive: F LeBron James
If narrative is your thing, this deal is even more fun than the last.
As a member of the Cleveland Cavaliers, LeBron James faced the Warriors in four consecutive NBA Finals matchups between 2015 and 2018. He emerged victorious once. Finally joining his most challenging foe years later makes for must-see TV.
Meanwhile, James orchestrated a trade for Kevin Love when he rejoined the Cavaliers earlier in his career. That trade sent Andrew Wiggins to the Minnesota Timberwolves. James being traded for Wiggins (even if Kuminga is the main draw here) so many years later is ripe with irony.
On the court, this deal makes the Warriors instant title favorites. James recently said he’d like to play with Curry someday, to which Curry responded “I’m good”. Something tells us the star guard may change his tune if forced to face that reality.
