There are going to be a lot of teams chasing after the same players in free agency this summer in the NBA. With limited cap space available, mid-level exceptions will be used to try and lure players, but that will be the same avenue that competing teams are going to offer as well.
Teams will have to show prospective free agents other things to entice them to sign. One of those players that will be going through this process is TJ Warren.
It was not too long ago that Warren was lighting up the Orlando Bubble in 2020. Unfortunately, we have only seen him on the court for four games since as he has battled foot injuries. He presents one of the biggest risk/reward signings of this offseason.
We have seen him at his best, knocking down 3-pointers at a 40+ percent clip and turning himself into a solid defender. The injury concerns are legitimate, evident by his absence the last two seasons.

He could provide a team with the biggest bargain and steal of the 2022 free-agent class if he comes close to replicating the production he had in the bubble. One team that should be pushing hard to sign him this offseason is the Milwaukee Bucks.
Contending teams are likely going to line up for TJ Warren’s services this offseason. Almost all of the teams with cap space are in various stages of rebuilding. That means the 28-year-old Warren likely won’t be on their radar, especially since he has missed essentially two seasons of basketball.

He will be pursued by teams with limited cap space looking for a potential impact player. Being a contender will only sell Warren so much, as numerous teams can also bring that to the negotiating table. But, what differentiates the Milwaukee Bucks, is that there is a potential starting role available.
Warren, if he proves he is healthy, could step right into the starting small forward role currently occupied by Wesley Matthews. Warren would be a sizable upgrade on Matthews. He can provide the floor spacing Matthews does, but with more of a dynamic punch offensively and even more size and versatility on the defensive end of the floor.

The potential to compete for the Larry O’Brien Trophy and be a key cog in doing so would be tough for Warren to pass up. The Milwaukee Bucks, with a starting lineup of Jrue Holiday, Khris Middleton, TJ Warren, Giannis Antetokounmpo, and Brook Lopez, with Bobby Portis, Grayson Allen, and Pat Connaughton off the bench would be a lot for opposing teams to handle.
