Cade Cunningham
Is it premature to think about stars to pair Cade Cunningham with? Absolutely. In fact, it’s even premature to label Cunningham a star. He had a strong rookie season, but on general NBA standards, his play hasn’t earned that designation yet.
Call the fun police. Cade Cunningham and Giannis Antetokounmpo could be a pairing for the ages.
Assume that Cunningham reaches his ceiling. We’re talking about a 6’8 point guard with elite floor vision and a reliable three-point cannon. Now, imagine pairing him with a 6’11 transition demon. The combined length and playmaking of Cunningham and Antetokounmpo would simply overwhelm opponents.
It’s not the likeliest of pairings. Cunningham just completed his rookie season. In all likelihood, he’ll remain a Detroit Piston for the seven years following his rookie contract and extension. By then, Antetokounmpo will be 33. Unless he’s planning on demanding a trade to the Pistons, you probably won’t see this one in action.
