Nikola Jokic’s rise to prominence has been unprecedented. He may already be the best second-round pick in NBA history. Perhaps more importantly, he may be the best player in the NBA.
This year, he hasn’t had sufficient help in Denver. It isn’t the organization’s fault. Both Jamal Murray and Michael Porter Jr. found themselves sidelined for the bulk of the 2021-22 season.
They’re supposed to be his co-stars. Still, it was fascinating to watch Jokic muscle the Denver Nuggets to 46 wins with a weak supporting cast. It was like watching an artist work with a blank canvas. It got us thinking: who would be the best stars to pair with Big Honey?
Realism is not a major concern here. At the same time, we’re not going to just name anyone. Obviously, the Nuggets would love to pair Jokic with Luka Doncic. They’d love to clone prime Michael Jordan while they were at it.
