This Nets-Thunder Trade Lands Intriguing Big In OKC

NBA Trade Rumors, Oklahoma City Thunder
NBA Analysis Network

The Oklahoma City Thunder wrapped up another underwhelming season, going 24-58. They will be in the fourth spot in the NBA Draft Lottery, which is right where they want to be. Oklahoma City has gone to great lengths to tank and rebuild its roster and this season was yet another example of it.

In the final few games of the season, the Thunder were starting players that even the most hardcore of basketball fans likely didn’t know. Despite all of the losses, this is a team that is starting to build a strong foundation.

Shai Gilgeous-Alexander and Josh Giddey look like their backcourt of the future. Luguentz Dort is a solid 3-and-D wing player. Darius Bazley, Isaiah Roby, and Jeremiah Robinson-Earl look like rotation pieces.

Eventually, all of the draft capital that the Thunder have has to be turned into something to help upgrade the roster. Could that process begin this offseason? No one knows the answer to that other than Sam Presti and his staff.

But, if they want to start adding talent to the roster, the frontcourt, specifically at center, is where they should start. One intriguing target that could be of interest to the Thunder is Nicolas Claxton of the Brooklyn Nets.

Brooklyn has reportedly shopped Claxton in the past, so he is someone that they may not have long-term plans for. With Day’Ron Sharpe now on the roster, they very well could allow Claxton to leave as a restricted free agent.

If that is the case, a sign-and-trade could occur. Let’s take a look at a hypothetical deal that would land Claxton in Oklahoma City this offseason.
