Portland Trail Blazers Receive: F RJ Barrett, G Derrick Rose, G/F Evan Fournier, 2022 First-Round Pick (NYK), 2024 First-Round Pick (NYK), 2026 First-Round Pick (NYK)
New York Knicks Receive: G Damian Lillard
This trade probably feels closer to what most fans would expect. Rather than taking half measures, the Portland Trail Blazers opt to completely rebuild in this scenario.
If that’s their preferred route, they could surely do worse than this package. They’re receiving three first-round picks, as well as a 21-year-old with All-Star potential in Barrett.
It’s pretty much the textbook definition of a rebuilding trade. Derrick Rose and Evan Fournier are required to make the contracts work, but they can probably be moved in a separate package.
Meanwhile, the New York Knicks suddenly become a two star team. During Lillard’s time in Portland, he’s never had the opportunity to play with as dynamic a forward as Randle.

If the Knicks assembled the right pieces around them, and Randle was able to return to his 2020-21 form, the Knicks could be poised for a deep playoff run next season.
Trading your franchise player is never ideal. No matter how many young players and picks you get in return, you’re inevitably transitioning from title contention to racking up losses. Still, if the Blazers feel forced to make that transition this season, this package at least makes it smoother.
If the clock has expired on their Damian Lillard era, that may be the most they can ask for.
