The New York Knicks had a tremendously disappointing 2021-22 NBA season. It’s hard to anticipate where the organization goes from here. Given their success in 2020-21, they could justify retooling to stay competitive and blow up their core.
Meanwhile, it would be hard to classify the Houston Rockets as disappointing in 2021-22. At 20-62, they were as awful as advertised.
This Rockets club is in the early stages of a rebuild. So early that it’s fair to question whether the 26-year-old Christian Wood has a place in their future. The team opted to sit him down the stretch of the year, and some of their future building blocks seemed to thrive in his absence.
That doesn’t mean he’s not a valuable NBA player. The combo big averaged 17.9 points per game while shooting 39.0% from distance this season. He is one of the best shooting big men in the NBA.

He does struggle a little bit on the defensive end. Therefore, he may not be a preferred target for Tom Thibodeau. On the other hand, putting a stretch big next to Julius Randle may open his offensive game back up.
