Jordan Poole has had a breakout NBA season for the Golden State Warriors, scoring a career-high 18.5 points and helping lead the team in Stephen Curry’s absence.

Long-time Warriors and Heat veteran Andre Iguodala had praise to give Poole recently, offering a comparison to leading Sixth Man of the Year candidate Tyler Herro of the Miami Heat.

“We joke about him, [Nemanja Bjelica] and myself, because we were in Miami together and we got to see Tyler Herro play,” Iguodala said. “I don’t think people knew quite how good of a passer Tyler was.”

Iguodala would go on to compare Poole to Herro. “We joke, we call both of them ‘Wonder Boys’ because they are both from Milwaukee and they both have that flare and flash to their game. They both can score at a very high clip. And that can sometimes take away from the other parts of their game that they are pretty good at. They both have really good left hands, they both make those cross-court passes with one hand.”

The veteran’s praise highlighted Poole’s passing ability, which has improved this season along with his scoring. The guard is dishing a career-high four assists per game after averaging just 1.9 last season.

LATEST NBA NEWS & RUMORS: Stephen Curry’s Game 1 Status For Warriors-Nuggets Still Uncertain

Poole will be a key piece to the Warriors’ playoff run, even if Stephen Curry returns, as reports indicate he could for Game 1. The improvement of Poole gives the Warriors the ability to run line-ups with three elite scoring guards, Poole, Curry, and Klay Thompson.

Iguodala played with Herro when the Miami Heat made an NBA Finals run in the 2020 playoffs. Herro was instrumental for Miami then, just as the Warriors are hoping Poole can be for them this postseason.

Jordan Poole has no playoff experience yet in his short career, but neither did Tyler Herro when he helped Miami to the Finals in 2020. Andre Iguodala’s praise could turn out prophetic if the Golden State Warriors make a deep run this season, as Poole will no doubt be a key contributor.
