Atlanta Hawks Receive: G Spencer Dinwiddie, F Dorian Finney-Smith, F Maxi Kleber, F Josh Green, 2025 First-Round Pick (DAL – Lottery Protected)
Dallas Mavericks Receive: F John Collins, F Danilo Gallinari
In spirit, this deal doesn’t differ substantially from the last one. It finds the Atlanta Hawks valuing Huerter enough to pass on a first-round pick, and add two helpful rotation pieces plus a young player at the expense of looser pick protections.
Dorian Finney-Smith is a solid 3-and-D wing: he’ll fit right in alongside Trae Young in Atlanta. Maxi Kleber is a useful combo big who provides a little rim protection and a little floor spacing.
Spencer Dinwiddie’s deal is required to make the money work, but he could provide some useful secondary ball-handling to ease Young’s burden.
Josh Green is the main draw here. He’s emerged as an impactful 3-and-D wing for the Mavs this season. At just 21, he’s got ample room to grow with this young Hawks core. If they’re willing to deal Collins with just lottery protection on the pick they’re receiving, it’ll be because they like Green.
LATEST NBA NEWS & TRADE RUMORS: Luka Doncic’s Status For Mavericks-Jazz Series Remains Unclear
Gallinari’s best years are behind him: he’s mostly an expiring contract to the Dallas Mavericks. They’re actually the team cutting costs here, all while adding talent.
That should cost them at least Green and a lottery-protected first-round pick. After all, failing to upgrade their roster soon may cost them something much more dear: Luka Doncic.
