After making it back to the postseason last year, the New York Knicks took a step back in 2022. Their 37-45 record had them once again on the outside looking in come NBA playoff time. With their season coming to an end early, the Knicks’ focus can now shift to the offseason.

Being one of the league’s most historic franchises, the Knicks are often a team that pops up in rumors to make a big splash via trade or free-agent signing. Given their mix of youth and veterans on the roster, New York has the chips necessary to swing a deal if one to arise.

One player that could be on their radar this summer is Detroit Pistons forward Jerami Grant. In 47 games this season, he posted averages of 19.2 points, 4.1 rebounds, and 1.0 blocks.

Between a promising rookie campaign from Cade Cunningham and young players like Saddiq Bey and Isaiah Stewart continuing to develop, the Pistons should be pleased about the direction the franchise is moving in. Since coming to Detroit from Denver, Grant has proven he can be more than just a role player.

New York has more than enough young players to entice a team like Detroit to part ways with Grant. As a near All-Star caliber player, he would raise the Knicks’ ceiling, and they are a team with ample cap space to give him a respectable contract.
