Making the Case: New York Knicks
At this point, it is clear that the New York Knicks brought back players, such as Derrick Rose and Nerlens Noel, from last season. While it’s good for the locker room to build faith with the players, it doesn’t mean that it was the best move for success.
Despite last season, the Knicks are not a win-now team and that is clear. With the young core, they have in place, New York should look to add another threat and that is what Kennard can be.
Over the final weeks of the season, Thibodeau finally began playing his younger options and this is when Obi Toppin began to break out. He has shown that he can score at this level if given the right amount of playing time. The same can be said about Immanuel Quickley, who has been explosive coming off the bench.
Kennard fits the bill of a young player that can stick around long-term. He is a threat from three-point range and knows how to coexist with other offensive weapons. The fit here is a good one for the next because Kennard is not a player who needs the ball in his hand to be successful.
