This Lakers-Magic Trade Lands An Intriguing Guard In L.A.

Los Angeles Lakers, NBA Rumors
NBA Analysis Network

The offseason has officially begun for the Los Angeles Lakers. After being eliminated from NBA postseason contention with high hopes entering the year, LeBron James and the Lakers can start to look at what changes need to be made.

The list is long. Is it the head coach? Is it a member of the big three? Maybe both? Either way, there is something that is going to happen.

First, it seems unlikely that Frank Vogel will survive the offseason. The Lakers will be looking for yet another coach, the seventh since Phil Jackson left in 2011.

Also, Russell Westbrook’s future with the team could be in jeopardy after a season that left him as the scapegoat. Westbrook remained durable and was on the floor night in and night out. He completely lost his jump shot and turned the ball over at a high rate.

The Lakers lacked defensive prowess and struggled off the bench. This is where a potential trade could come into play. The Orlando Magic are the ultimate rebuilding team in the league. Cole Anthony and Jalen Suggs look like promising young players to build around.

A veteran who does not fit into long-term plans is Terrence Ross. He’s shown that he can get a basket from anywhere on the floor when needed during his career. This would be an excellent addition to a Lakers squad that could use some help off the bench.

It is surprising to see Ross still in Orlando, given their current path. This would give him a chance to find a scheme where he fits better.
