Making the Case: Los Angeles Lakers

This is one of the most disappointing seasons in NBA history. That seems like a strong claim but with the names that were in Los Angeles this season, it is definitely on the list. The front office cannot just sit on their hands after this disastrous campaign.

Whether it is Anthony Davis, Russell Westbrook, or the coaching staff – something has to happen. The Los Angeles Lakers have believed in Davis and continue to have his back through the injury concerns but that is becoming difficult.

Davis has played just 76 games over the last two years for the Lakers. In his 10-year career, Davis is averaging 60.4 games played per season. That means he is sidelined for around 22 games a year. At what point do the Lakers give up?

This might be difficult to pull off because it took so much to get Davis here in the first place. It would not be a success if they were to trade him after just three years, including one championship.

This was an arrangement that was supposed to create the next great franchise in Los Angeles. Instead, it has contributed to an extremely disappointing run.

This deal is less about the return, which would bring great depth and more about if the Lakers ultimately want to move Anthony Davis. San Antonio can send the Lakers draft picks and rotation players at different positions. This is what the team needs to bring back their depth and defensive ability.
