3. Who Takes Over As Head Coach?
The writing has been on the wall for a long time for Los Angeles Lakers head coach Frank Vogel. He was reportedly coaching for his job on a nightly basis earlier in the season when the team struggled to stay above the .500 mark.
It was reported that anything short of an unexpected run to the postseason would likely mean his dismissal at the end of the season. Los Angeles only plummeted further down the standings, meaning Vogel will probably be looking for another job in a few days.
Who will replace Vogel as head coach starting next season? Despite the job not officially being available, some names are already popping up as potential targets.
Two people with jobs currently in the NBA that have been linked to the job are Quin Synder of the Utah Jazz and Doc Rivers of the Philadelphia 76ers.

Synder has also been linked to the San Antonio Spurs whenever Gregg Popovich steps down as head coach. Rivers has been related to the Jazz job because of Danny Ainge’s hiring as the two worked together on the Boston Celtics.
Two collegiate coaches, albeit likely long shots, have also been floated around. A return to the NBA for John Calipari seems to be mentioned every offseason; could this be the time it happens?

Dawn Staley, who has done a magnificent job as head coach of the South Carolina women’s team, would be a groundbreaking hire for a team looking for a spark.
