Following their moves at the NBA trade deadline, it is clear the Indiana Pacers are gearing up for a rebuild. Parting ways with Domantas Sabonis and Caris LeVert, they are embracing a youth movement.
Between the addition of Tyrese Haliburton and rookie standout Chris Duarte, Indiana already has two promising young talents for the next phase of the franchise.
One player the Pacers did not trade away this season was center Myles Turner. While still early in his career, the 26-year-old big man does not fit his team’s new timeline. That being said, many expect Turner to be available via trade this offseason.
Multiple teams will surely inquire about Turner if Indiana looks to move him, but one organization is already on his radar.

During a recent appearance on the HoopsHype podcast with Michael Scotto, Indiana Pacers beat reporter Scott Agness mentioned the Dallas Mavericks as a possible landing spot.
“I know if he does get traded, Dallas would definitely be one that interests him personally because that’s his hometown team.”
Along with being from Texas, there are multiple reasons for Myles Turner to have an interest in joining the Dallas Mavericks. For starters, they are one of the top teams in the Western Conference right now, with a record of 49-30. The other key factor is the idea of getting to play alongside one of the game’s top talents in Luka Doncic.

From a fit perspective, Turner makes a lot of sense for the Mavericks. He can be an anchor for them on defense and offensively can be showcased next to Doncic. Turner’s ability to step out beyond the arc makes him a good partner in the pick-and-pop.
With his skill set, Myles Turner can give the Dallas Mavericks an element they hoped to get from Kristaps Porzingis. If Indiana does decide to move on from Turner, Dallas is among the best fits for him.
