The Dallas Mavericks have had an excellent 2021-22 NBA season. Opinions on the team were divisive heading into the start of things, especially after their early-season success looked like a fluke.
But, Jason Kidd has done a wonderful job getting this team on track after some up-and-down play early on. Their performance defensively has proven to be sustainable, while the rough start offensively was more of a fluke.
Getting Luka Doncic in the lineup healthy and in shape is a big reason for the offense picking up and the Mavericks were getting contributions from other players to pick up the slack.
Jalen Brunson is playing himself into a big contract this offseason. Dorian Finney-Smith already inked his extension, agreeing to a four-year, $52 million deal. They are two of the key role players on the team as Dallas is hopeful they can retain Brunson this summer.

Given their ascension up the standings this season, you can be sure that Dallas will be buyers this upcoming offseason. They have a bonafide superstar in Doncic and need to continue shaping the roster around him.
The Kristaps Porzingis trade didn’t pan out as well as they had hoped, trading him to the Washington Wizards for Spencer Dinwiddie and Davis Bertans. Attacking the center position this offseason will likely be atop the team’s to-do list as a result.

One player to keep an eye on, according to ESPN’s Tom McMahon, is Rudy Gobert. During an appearance on The Lowe Post podcast, McMahon reported that the Dallas Mavericks would have significant interest in the Utah Jazz center should he be put on the market.
Rudy Gobert would be a huge addition to the Dallas Mavericks lineup. The Stifle Tower has been named to an All-Defensive Team five times in his career and taken home the Defensive Player of the Year award three times.

He would help solidify the team as a top-rated defense as one of the best players in the league on that end of the court. He leaves a little something to be desired offensively, but when you can provide the impact that he does defensively, it is hard to get too worked up over.
However, the price to acquire him would not be cheap. The Dallas Mavericks would have to get creative putting together a package to entice the Utah Jazz to part with the three-time All-Star as he would garner a ton of interest around the league.
