New York Knicks
The Knicks have had a very disappointing year and heading into the offseason, team president Leon Rose and GM Scott Perry will be turning their attention to finding a reliable, consistent point guard to replace Kemba Walker and possibly even Derrick Rose.
Being a two-way threat in the backcourt, Malcolm Brogdon could be a very good fit in Tom Thibodeau’s system and his contract is pretty reasonable.
Owed $67.6 million over the next three seasons, Brogdon could be the Knicks’ long-term solution, for the time being, in the backcourt and the Knicks will have plenty of money and opportunities to still add talent to their roster after trading for the Pacers’ guard.
The Pacers have made their intentions to “re-tool” instead of “rebuild” very clear, but this does not mean that Malcolm Brogdon is off-the-table in trade discussions around the league.
LATEST NBA NEWS & TRADE RUMORS: Why The Knicks Should Pursue Trade For Pacers’ Malcolm Brogdon
Tom Thibodeau made the Knicks a force defensively last season and they have lost their touch on defense this year. Not only do they need more offensive talent, but they need to sure things up on defense as well, which is why Malcolm Brogdon could be the perfect trade target for them.
Brogdon has always been known to be a hard-nosed defender on the perimeter and since the start of last season, he has averaged 20.4 points while shooting 36.3% from three-point range.
Being able to lead an offense, as well as pull his weight defensively, Malcolm Brogdon could fit in nicely next to Julius Randle and R.J. Barrett on the Knicks.
