Does this trade make sense for the Washington Wizards?
Duncan Robinson would be an upgrade from Kentavious Caldwell-Pope on the perimeter and while this move would cost the Washington Wizards a lot of money in the grand scheme of things, they do not have many options in terms of improving as a franchise.
Almost zero All-Star free agents are going to look at Washington as an attractive destination to potentially contend for a championship within the next few seasons and while they do have Bradley Beal, the Wizards have been unable to land big names in the offseason throughout the years unless they make a trade.
While he is not a high-level, explosive player, Duncan Robinson has consistently been one of the better three-point shooting threats in the league over the last few seasons and he could continue doing so in Washington next to Bradley Beal, Kristaps Porzingis, and Kyle Kuzma.
Davis Bertans had a couple of successful seasons with the Wizards being a catch-and-shoot threat and having an obvious need for a three-point weapon, this would be a smart upgrade for the Wizards to make in the offseason.

Being a better shooting threat than Caldwell-Pope, Duncan Robinson would immediately find his way into the starting rotation and is under contract long-term, meaning that the Washington Wizards would not have to worry about who would be a part of their long-term core, especially after re-signing Beal to a new deal.
