Potential Teams That Could Be Interested
If Zion Williamson is put on the trade block, he will generate a ton of interest. The first team people will have their eyes on is the New York Knicks.
New York has fellow 2018 lottery picks and Duke teammates on their roster in RJ Barrett, the No. 3 overall pick and Cam Reddish, who went 10th overall. There are plenty of people that believe Williamson will inevitably end up in New York as they have some pieces to swing a big trade.
Another team to keep an eye on is the Atlanta Hawks. They could use another superstar-level talent to pair with Trae Young. Needing to consolidate the roster, this could present them an opportunity to do so.
Matching value and salary are tough with Williamson on his rookie deal, but there are some pieces that can make it work. John Collins is someone that would likely be part of a package returning to New Orleans.

The Oklahoma City Thunder should also be in the mix. They have what feels like unlimited resources when it comes to assets. They can send a boatload of picks to the Pelicans and it wouldn’t leave a dent in their draft capital.
The only thing working against Oklahoma City is that they do not have many players that would pique the interest of a team such as the Pelicans looking to upgrade to make a playoff push during the 2022-23 season. Shai Gilgeous-Alexander is the only player that may generate interest, but trading him for Zion Williamson seems unlikely.
