Memphis Grizzlies superstar Ja Morant has taken the league by storm as of late. He’s among the top candidates for the 2021 NBA MVP and even if he doesn’t win it, he’s a serious threat to be named All-NBA First-Team.

Morant is averaging 27.6 points, 5.7 rebounds, and 6.7 assists in 56 appearances for the Grizzlies this season. He’s raised his game by a few levels compared to his production during his Sophomore campaign just a season ago.

It’s safe to say, Brooklyn Nets superstar Kevin Durant has taken notice of Morant’s impressive play. Durant went as far to call Morant “a future Hall of Famer” ahead of the Nets’ matchup against the Grizzlies on Wednesday.

“When you got a future Hall of Famer at the head of the snake, it just makes everybody better,” Durant said.

When comparing Morant’s skill-set to other greats, Durant explained how Morant reminds him of different parts of all-time greats, whether it’s Michael Jordan, Allen Iverson, Russell Westbrook, or Derrick Rose.

“He’s a combination of players, I feel,” Durant said. “I think the greatest players in our game can transform into anybody at any given point. And I think Ja’s on the way to that. When he’s playing, I see like two or three, four different Hall of Famers in his game. From [Allen] Iverson, to he might make a [Michael] Jordan-like layup, or he might run down the court like a [Russell] Westbrook or a [Derrick Rose].

Durant singled out Morant’s “float game” as being one of the best in NBA history. He explained that it’s not just Morant’s teammates that benefit from his play, but also, the opponent benefits because they have to raise their game.

“And his float game is up there with some of the best that’s ever played. I don’t want to gas him up too much since we’re playing against him, but I think the sky’s the limit for him. His future is obviously bright. He makes everybody better … even opponents, so it’s about the level you approach that game with and I’m looking forward to it.”

Ja Morant was ruled out in advance of the Memphis Grizzlies facing off with Kevin Durant and the Brooklyn Nets due to knee soreness.
