3 Intriguing Trade Targets If Nets Were To Flip Ben Simmons

Ben Simmons, Brooklyn Nets, NBA Trade Rumors
NBA Analysis Network

The Brooklyn Nets made the tough decision to move on from James Harden ahead of the NBA trade deadline this season to the Philadelphia 76ers. That broke up their Big 3 of Harden, Kevin Durant, and Kyrie Irving before they really even had a chance to see where things would go, but the Nets had their hands forced as they were unsure if Harden would remain with them long-term.

So, they sent Harden to the team he wanted to be with the entire time in the 76ers. In return for him, the Nets received Ben Simmons, Seth Curry, Andre Drummond and two first-round picks.

Some people would argue that Brooklyn is now in a better position after that trade than they were before it because of Simmons. Still only 25-years old, Simmons is significantly younger than Harden and gives the team a much-needed defensive presence as arguably the most versatile defender in the NBA.

The Nets should have more than enough scorers but were lacking players that can get the job done defensively. Simmons’ ability to defend every position on the court provides Steve Nash with a ton of flexibility when it comes to building lineups.
