Tyler Herro and the Miami Heat (47-25) took on Tyrese Maxey and the Philadelphia 76ers (44-27) in part of the NBA Monday slate. It was the Sixers who managed to pull out a 113-106 win.
With James Harden and Joel Embiid both sitting out of this one, the odds were against the 76ers to come out with a win. Tyrese Maxey brought his A-game scoring 13 of his 28 points in the fourth quarter to help carry Philadelphia over the finish line when they needed him the most.
“He said, ‘Go out there and help us get a ‘W’,” Maxey said of Embiid’s pregame message. “I told him, ‘I got him.'”
The Heat came up short in this one despite receiving 69 combined points from Jimmy Butler (27), Bam Adebayo (22), and Kyle Lowry (20). It was an underwhelming performance for Tyler Herro offensively but was worse defensively as the Sixers made it a point to hunt him over and over down the stretch.

The clear-cut top storyline from this game was Tyrese Maxey managing to take over as a closer for the 76ers down the stretch with James Harden and Joel Embiid both sidelined.
In the Philadelphia 76ers’ previous game, they were defeated by the Toronto Raptors with 93-88 begin the final score. Joel Embiid finished with 21 points and 13 rebounds while going 6-20 from the floor and 9-11 on free throws. James Harden struggled with just 17 points while shooting 5-12 from the floor, missing all four of his 3-point takes, and finishing with six turnovers.
The Miami Heat coasted to a 120-108 win over the Oklahoma City Thunder in their previous outing without Jimmy Butler even being in the lineup. Miami has continued to thrive even when key players have been out. Tyler Herro finished with 26 points, seven rebounds, and four assists off the bench.
